The Police department was established to provide for the preservation of peace and enforcement of law and ordinances within the corporate city limits of Remsen. The department consists of the Police Chief and such other law enforcement officers and personnel, whether full or part time, as may be authorized by the Council. The Mayor shall appoint the Police Chief and the Police Chief shall select, subject to approval of Mayor and Council, the other members of the department.
Officer daily activities include rountine patrol, response to 911 emergencies, investigate criminal activity, and enforce city, county, and state laws within and around the city of Remsen. The Remsen Police Department also assists the Remsen Fire and Ambulance Teams, works closely with MMCRU and St. Mary’s Schools, and is certified to perform Salvage Vehicle Inspections (Information below)

Winter Parking
69.11 No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area during snow removal operations unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall.
A. Residential Streets. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area during the hours of 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. from the months of November 1 to April 1.
B. Business Streets. No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area during the hours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. from the months of November 1 to April 1.
Pet Ordinances
🐶 No household shall have more than 3 domestic animals.
🐶 Every dog within the city limits shall obtain rabies vaccination.
🐶 Every dog off of its property must be kept on a leash.
🐶 Every dog within the city must be chipped.
🐶 Every dog within the city must be registered with the city or police
department.
🐶 Every owner is responsible for removing their animals feces from
public property or on another private property.

Salvage Vehicle Inspections
❏ Owner of the vehicle must have registered on line and paid State fee at:
Iowa Department of Transportation.
❏ Set up a time with Remsen Police Department (Plan on 1 hour).
❏ Must provide drivers license to the Remsen Police Department.
❏ Must provide Bill of Sale and/or Salvage Title.
❏ Must present all repair receipts.
❏ Repairs have to have been completed.
