Out of an abundance of caution amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the public playgrounds and parks in Remsen are closed effective immediately, until further notice. The City of Remsen does not have an effective way to fully sanitize the playground equipment to keep everyone safe. We need to discourage groups of people from congregating and with the warmer temperatures, closing the parks is a necessary precaution that needs to be taken. This is not a decision that was taken lightly, please know that it was done with the safety of the public in mind. The walking trail will remain open during this time.
The City Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The City of Remsen will be making some changes to the way we operate out of caution for the public and the threat of the COVID-19 virus. Beginning tomorrow, March 17, 2020, the lobby at City Hall will be closed to the public and we ask that payments be made by using the drop box. City Hall employees will be in the office during normal operating hours and available to answer questions and conduct other business. The Remsen Public Library will also be closed until further notice.
The City of Remsen is currently accepting applications for a full time police officer. Applications can be obtained at City Hall or at www.remseniowa.org. Application deadline is December 16, 2019.
